SGA BLOODLINES

SGA is based on stock from the famous BOSTOCKS stud with their strong bodied mares possessing excellent action, great substance, superb saddle horse qualities and breed type.
All our domestic stock descend from the mare lines of NEFERTITI and FANTASY, those immensely significant daughters of the great
COUNT MANILLA*.

The BIG 3 of Bostocks stallion imports figure equally prominently in all our stock. -

as does the final importation made by BOSTOCKS
the athletic and impressive fiery AK JABAL IBN MONIET.

COUNT MANILLA*

(Count Dorsaz ex Namilla)
KEHAILAN RODAN

Bred at the Hanstead stud of Lady Yule he was the mainspring of Bostocks stud. His sire Count Dorsaz was a major winner under saddle in the UK including at the Royal International Horse Show. The acclaimed action that stems from BERK through his daughter RISSLA to her son RISSALIX was inherited by Count Dorsaz and passed on through his own son Count Manilla.

Already a Champion under saddle in the U.K before his importation to Australia. He was Champion Arabian Stallion six times at Brisbane Royal - and retired TWO Lady May Abel Smith Cups by his consecutive HAT TRICK wins! He also won the Sires Progeny groups at Brisbane Royal no less than ten times.

As a sire he successfully established in one generation a type referred to across the nation as 'BOSTOCKS' - and for that stud he established a very successful line of broodmares - the truly significant ones being the Tou Fail daughter NEFERITITI - and the Scherzade* daughter FANTASY - the only domestic mare lines we have at SGA.

CRYSTAL FIRE*

(Dargee ex Rosinella*)
KEHAILAN RODAN

The Bostocks sire most celebrated across the nation for his outstanding action. 'Crystal' was imported with an already extensive show record, particularly under saddle.

In his pedigree once again, lines to the significant mare RISSLA and also her full sister RYTHMA are mirrored in the tail female lines of both his sire and dam. The combination passed down a full measure of the outstanding BERK action. 'Crystal' was a brilliant mover with a beautiful temperament who sired some really outstanding mares particularly out of daughters of Count Manilla. Mares the calibre of Miraya, Capricious, Kastana, Electra, Fire Glow and Lady Crysan have shaped breeding programs in Australia and overseas.

Unfortunately 'Crystal' was not used extensively by outside breeders due to the amount of white he carried but today his blood is sought out by breeders and his descendants excel under saddle and in endurance.

ABIRAM*

(Noran ex Rythoura)
KEHAILAN AJUZ OF THE DAJANI

The last of the BOSTOCKS BIG THREE! Abiram features prominently in our lines. He was another stallion with strong Hanstead connections - and once again the emphasis was on ACTION!

His sire Noran was out of the double RISSLA bred mare Nerinora - while RYTHMA features again as his maternal grand dam! When Abiram was bred to daughters of Crystal Fire and Count Manilla - an abundance of this blood celebrated for producing ACTION resulted!
In Australia he was shown successfully a number of times at Brisbane Royal - but his innate ability under saddle and his strength in passing this trait and his lovely action to his progeny were his real accomplishments. Vibrant, athletic and a glorious bay - he sired a new generation of the BOSTOCKS type.

Two of our Torryburn bred mares are out of prominent Abiram daughters and they have both inherited and now pass on, his beautiful free flowing action and great style - they are both profoundly saddle horses.

AL KARIM JABAL IBN MONIET*

(Ibn Moniet el Nefous ex Roufah - by Ibn Fa Serr)

SAQLAWIYAH JIDRANIYAH IBN SUDAN

Straight Egyptian and 26.95% CRABBET. 'Jabal' was a significant addition to the English bloodline mares of BOSTOCKS and Torryburn. He brought in a strong outcross from the proven performance lines of Babson Egyptian blood crossed with the modern Egyptian super sire Ibn Moniet El Nefous. He was a Straight Egyptian of a different calibre to many imported to Australia in that same time - he was a very substantial individual and he could MOVE as well. He was imposing and somewhat overbearing - but he was less the pretty headed refined individual many were chasing in the wave of straight Egyptian influence that was sweeping the country.

He was a magnificent horse and a very good Arabian. As a sire he bred very well with the daughters of the English stallions to produce such exemplary individuals as SALILA, JANAB, TORRYBURN JASEEM and TORRYBURN HARIYA el JABAL..

NEFERTITI - THE FOUNDATION

(Count Manilla* ex Tou Fail - by Ibn Fayrial)

DAHMIEH OM AAMR

The Bostocks matriarch, Nefertiti, foaled in 1959, is directly responsible for the majority of our mareline. An outstanding producer - her stock over the years formed the basis of the Bostocks stud. A strong and correct mare, she was a winner at halter and a successful performer under saddle as well. But her real strength was in producing outstanding saddle Arabians under the BOSTOCKS label. A number of Australian National Champions stem directly from her. Our most successful broodmares have multiple crosses to this great mare and we are proud to have lines to her through several of her most significant daughters.

The dam line of Nefertiti is of the imported Crabbet mare DAHNA. Bred at Crabbet Park by the esteemed desert bred sire KARS and out of the desert bred mare DAHMA. Foaled in 1883 DAHNA was imported to Australia and her line remains extremely strong today.

TORRYBURN HANDAMA

(Ibn Antar* ex Nofret - by Abiram*)
DAHMIEH OM AAMR

This was the mare that really started us on track. A classically beautiful

daughter of the beautiful EAO bred straight Egyptian stallion IBN ANTAR who was imported from GLEANNLOCH stud in the USA.

He was a classic style horse with lovely conformation - great style and good movement. He was sired by an outstanding breeding horse in ANTAR and out of a gem of a producer in BINT MONA who was also the dam of such notable individuals as The Egyptian Prince / Mohssen and Il Muna. Handama was very like her sire in appearance - she was his mirror in looks and traits.

When Ibn Antar was bred to the lovely mare NOFRET -  herself a beautiful and noted producing daughter of ABIRAM and NEFERTITI, their daughter was not only a classic style mare of great quality - but both her parents also contributed excellent movement to their daughter.

While she was rarely shown -in 1991 Handama placed First in her class at the National Stud Show, under Mr Gordon Walter from the
and a  week later she was Champion Mare at the New England Showcase A Class Show.

Handama was always used as a saddle horse, and aside from being used for pleasure and trail riding and stock work - she was also raced when we tried to initiate a NSW based racing fraternity back in the 1980's.

As a broodmare Handama was bred as often as perhaps we should have. But if she had only ever produced us the mare SG BINT JASEEM, we would be happy. She did produce sons to such stallions as Torryburn Jaseem (TORRYBURN HANZEER), Baskeer (ANTARUS), Warranty* (WISJTAR) and also Crystal Count. Of these four - three have been utilized in purebred breeding programs. We retained her Warranty son WISJTAR until his untimely death.

Handama was selected for the first breeding of her then young grandson ABU JAASK. Her patience, and his enthusiasm resulted in the lovely grey filly HAJAALA. Selected as a yearling by Judy Burton for an endurance career where she excelled with many wins to her credit here in Australia before her export to the Middle East.

As an older mare, Handama did produce for us one of the small number of fillies produced here in Australia by the exported World Reserve Champion Stallion, DASSEFA.

March 22, 2005 marked the end of an era here with Handama being quietly laid to rest. Her foundered feet of several years finally becoming too much of a liability for her comfort. To the end she was the very essence of the true Arabian mare and she is sorely missed. Her daughters, grand daughters and great grand daughters bless our pastures and our future.
