SGA MARES

The real basis of SGA is the Torryburn Handama family through her lovely daughter Sleeping Gypsy Bint Jaseem - a mare who was as lovely under saddle as she was an excellent producer for the stud.

SLEEPING GYPSEY BINT JASEEM

(Torryburn Jaseem ex Torryburn Handama - by Ibn Antar*)
DAHMIEH OM AAMR

When this filly hit the ground Elizabeth Staunton asked me to name her BINT JASEEM as she was so much like her upstanding sire. And like her sire she has gone on to produce excellent stock, and prove an excellent saddle horse - a trait she consistently passes to all her offspring.

She was ridden, off and on, for the first several years, in between producing a number of really oustanding youngsters. 'Jazz' is not a show mare - she is a very correct individual and has a beautiful body and hindquarter. She is also a very powerful, forward mover. She is a very athletic saddle mare and gives an excllent ride. Sometimes overlooked by visitors as being - too plain - she is generally the FIRST mare that endurance riders ask about - and is just the type of mare that can be the basis of an entire breeding program. She is very reminiscent of her sire's dam KASTANA (CRYSTAL FIRE* ex NEFERITITI).  In fact 'Jazz' has two crosses to Neferititi - as both her sire and dam are out of Neferititi daughters. Perhaps this is why she is proving such a breeding gem for us.

At stud 'Jazz' has produced an abundance of colts! Her first - ABU JAASK by BASKEER - is retained as our resident stallion. However she also has produced colts (since gelded) to the stallions Wisjtar (TALLAWALLA JAZZ) and Bremervale Excalibur (TALLAWALLA JALIBUR). Both of these geldings have been purchased by Terry Woods and are showing excellent results for him in endurance.
Waiting his chance in the wings are yet another two upstanding geldings - JAFAAH MONIET (by Prince Fa Moniet*) and JALUSTRE (by Kyremi Illustraa). Both very promising young geldings who are entering their endurance careers.

Her latest colt - BARBADOS-SGA by our own BAROMANOV has been retained. He is one of her very best foals and is an outstanding youngster and we will be looking at campaigning him at halter as a youngster. From his first two shows he has achieved a 4th place at the National Capital Show and the A Class CHAMPION ribbon for Champion Stallion/Colt at Canberra Royal in 2007.

Daughters from 'Jazz' are less plentiful. Her first filly JABASKA SG (pictured above) by BASKEER was retained and has grown into a beautiful mare who bred on exceptionally well for us.

A breeding to the Count Manilla son - COUNT CHATAIN resulted in a lovely golden chestnut filly with exceptional trot - but she unfortunately broke a leg in a paddock accident at six months and could not be saved.

Bred to the home bred stallion WISJTAR, 'Jazz' produced an unexpected black filly. Named JALALAIKA this very tall and stylish yearling was sold to Queensland. There she is breeding on well, with some of her stock already exported.
While on lease to Torryburn Stud, 'Jazz' produced a lovely filly to the aged stallion BREMERVALE EXCALIBUR. This filly - TORRYBURN MABUKA was exported to Malaysia.

Bred back to BAROMANOV based on the excellence of the colt BARBADOS-SGA Bint Jaseem again produced a very welcome daughter in the grey filly JA'BARODOVNA-SGA. A beautifully bodied filly with excellent topline and strength she has very good legs and feet under her and is a very stylish mover as well. She has inherited the BARBABAS eyes as well from her father and has an extremely pretty head. We are thrilled to have such an exemplary young daughter from Bint Jaseem to take the stud into the future.

JA'BARODOVNA-SGA

(Baromanov ex SG Bint Jaseem - by Torryburn Jaseem)
DAHMIEH OM AAMR

A full sibling to the promising young colt BARBADOS-SGA  this is a very strong bodied filly who combines her dam's terrific substance and movement - with the extra Arab breed type and quality of her sire. She has matured into a good big mare correct in legs / feet / body and has a lovely head and beautifully shaped neck. As well she is an animated and stylish mover and will make an excellent representative of her dam in our breeding program. A grey like her sire I think she looks the very classic style mare could walk out of the desert.

JABASKA SG

(Baskeer ex SG Bint Jaseem - by Torryburn Jaseem)
DAHMIEH OM AAMR

The first foal of her dam - by an outstanding young sire of the time BASKEER.  Jabaska badly injured a hock as a tiny foal and while we managed to repair the damage - she carries a great deal of scarring which has caused her some ongoing problems.
For the stud Jabaska produced a lovely chestnut filly by the well performed show stallion, and Reserve World Champion DASSEFA, Foaled 2 hours into the new century she was named JA'CENTAINE and she gew into an exceptionally lovely mare.

JA'CENTAINE

(Dassefa ex Jabaska SG - by Baskeer)
DAHMIEH OM AAMR

Our lovely daughter of Jabaska SG was a real gem.. An instant winner with with any visitors to the stud who invariably commented on her excellent body and hindquarter, and her lovely action. She inherited the lovely head type and refinement of her RESERVE WORLD CHAMPION sire - but was very like her own dam in regard to conformation, substance and movement. Smaller, yet a big mover and a rich chestnut - she was an echo of Bostocks!

Ja'Centaine was bred to Baromanov twice for two lovely daughters Ja'Diva-SGA and her exceptional youngster Ja'Deara-SGA who has been retained within the stud to continue her lines following her mother's untimely death.

JA'DASKA - SGA

(Dassefa ex Jabaska SG - by Baskeer)
DAHMIEH OM AAMR

Our lovely daughter of JaCentaine who carries on her line within the stud. She was a gorgeous baby and has matured into a really lovely mare. Smaller in stature she is a huge bodied mare with excellent eye - and great style with lovey breed type as well. We are thrilled to have her here as part of the stud.

SALINAS - SGA

(Abu Jaask ex Torryburn Desert Sprite - by Fall Farm Desert Asahm*)
DAHMIEH OM AAMR

The only foal produced for us during her dam's few years with us - this is filly is a delight to handle and have on the farm. She has the most biddable and relaxed temperament of any stock we have bred and is a pleasure to handle. Physically she is a lovely combination of her sire and dam - she is a beautiful bodied filly with a strong back and coupling and good hindquarter. She has a well set neck and a good shoulder and
she moves with a light free stride. Good straight legs and sound feet together with a refined head make her a wonderful prospect for the future both under saddle and within the studs broodmare band.

HAMAASA-SGA

(Abu Jaask ex Torryburn Halama - by AK Jabal Ibn Moniet imp USA)
DAHMIEH OM AAMR

Our wonderful moving and very rare Sadaf (Abiram ex Fayda by Sirocco) granddaughter is a tall substantial lady who has a beautiful long free stride and represents the athleticism of her lines so well.
As a broodmare she has produced two really lovely progeny by Baromanov that both inherited his beauty and style and their dams height and free flowing action.

TORRYBURN GAHLIA

(Barbados-SGA ex Torryburn Ghazala by Bremervale Excalibur)
DAHMIEH OM AAMR

Our wonderful daughter of our own home bred sire Barbados-SGA and the grand little mare sired by Bremervale Excalibur - Torryburn Ghazala. Ghazala was a mare I had long admired and the chance to have an own daughter of her's sired by our own yung sire Barbados - was a real win.
This young lady is classic BOSTOCKS. A substantial big bodied and lovely moving mare with great breed type and tons of quality. She catches the eye of every visitor to the farm.

FANTAISSONCE-SGA

(Abu Jaask ex Bostocks Fantiselle - by Sunshine Bey*)
KEHAILEH RODANIEH

The only surviving daughter of her dam this mare has matured into the studs premier female. In spite of being reared an orphan she is a big, bold, strong bodied individual with a delightful temperament. She has a tremendous hindquarter and body and a lovely correct set of legs and feet. She moves beautifully as well and we are thrilled to have her here to represent not only her lovely deceased dam - but also the dam line of that incomparable Australian legend FANTASY.

Fantaissonce has matured into a big tall strong bodied mare exceeding 15 hands. Like her dam before her she will be a very substantial mare in the mould of her magnificent grand dam Salila.

For her only breeding to date Fanta was bred to the imported/exported sire SIR REAL. The result is an impressive and very tall and upstanding bay colt SIR FANTOM (pending). We believe he will make an outstanding performance and stud prospect for the future.

We look forward to breeding from Fanta again in the near future.
